About me

I am a Mumbai-based journalist and bilingual writer from Maharashtra, India. Learning and mastering the art of storytelling from my mother- Alka, who was a street vegetable vendor, I became an accidental journalist in 2015. But ever since I started reporting, I never looked back and grew to love this profession and worked across diverse Indian newsrooms print, television, and digital.

I invest days and months reporting and producing compelling long form stories, craft narratives that uncover socio-economic inequities, with a special focus on poverty. I have been writing on gender, law, human rights, and policies. Currently, I work as a senior correspondent and leading the Gender-Based Violence beat at Behanbox, a web portal dedicated to gender journalism.

Growing up in a working-class family, navigating poverty, and being raised by a single mother has deeply shaped my worldview which brings authenticity, depth, and nuance to my reporting. I also enjoy ideating projects, design campaigns, building communities and conducting workshops on feminist storytelling. And when I’m not immersed in any of this, you’ll find me watching films, writing fiction, or escaping into the wilderness.
